One of my friends, who is HBV poitive & has merely started treatment for the same, surrounded by recent tests done over a term of 10days, shows high values of ESR(About 120- 130).Is he within for further trouble?High values of erythrocite sedimentation rate of one's blood sample-what does it connote healthwise?
The Erythrocyte Sedimentation rate(ESR),in yesteryear decades had be considered as an indicator for confirming any existing infection. However, research proved other implication too.
The ESR rises next to age and anaemia. And also certain disease conditions such as,cancer, connective tissue diseases, rheumatoid arthritis, kidney diseases, leukaemia and even soon after any primary injury and stress all can rise ESR.
Certain type of treatments too can rise ESR.Any busy infection is the other commonest reason too.
You no stipulation to trouble your mind as high level of ESR occurs as quantity of the disease process and it will resolve to normal or effective normal when, underlying complaint or factor is treated. Therefore, please do not worry.
I hope, the following formula will be of great adjectives if, you want to calculate your upper ordinary value of the ESR.
For men: Age within years / 2
For women: (Age in years+10) / 2
Hope, it help.
Regards,
It doesn't necessarily mean that he is within for further trouble. ESR can be elevated when there is something wrong next to the body and you say he have HBV and is being treated for it. The elevated numbers could be due to that.
A dignified ESR value indicates an infection surrounded by the body. Clinical symptoms and other tests are used to correlate impossible to tell apart with the glorious ESR values.
The test is for inflammatory marker and yes they are up, but ask the doctor for further advice because next to some diseases like mine it is regular for them to be elevated
