I would first try Vitamin E and Aloe, if that doesn't work, there is a procedure call a skin graft. The other alternative is plastic surgery.
Vitamin E and aloe might reduce the appearance of the mark.
There are ointments for removing mutilation. Contractubex is good. It's Pfizer made I reason..tell your friend to put sunblock over the defect so it won't darken.
The best way to prevent the appearance to scar is to take nurture of them while they are still healing. Once its heal thats the way its gonna be. Best of luck but the defect isn't going to look much better. Not without cosmetic surgery. They can other make it look better!
